CONSISTENCY KEEPING SNIDER IN CARS TOUR POINTS RACE
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 3, 2015) – Four races have now been placed into the 2015 CARS Tour LMSC record book and only seven points separate leader Brayton Haws from third-place Myatt Snider. Snider points to his Jeff Caudill-led team’s consistency as the key reason he is a major player in the tight points battle.
“We’ve been strong enough to finish in the top 10 in all four races so far – the only team able to do that,” said Snider, who has accrued 112 points compared to Haws’ 119 and second-place Deac McCaskill’s 115. “If you look at the CARS Tour points system, the two things that are striking are the importance of finishing in the top 10 and the significance of bonus points.”
The CARS Tour awards a bonus point for winning the pole, a bonus point for leading a lap and a bonus point for leading the halfway lap.
“We’re continuously working on getting stronger with our qualifying,” said Snider. “Starting up front allows you the opportunity to lead laps early on in the race. My spotter has really been paying attention to the lap count and if we’re in a position to lead the halfway lap, we’ll be going for it.”
Snider started sixth and finished seventh in last Saturday night’s battle at Southern National Motorsports Park.
“We ran as high as fourth and fell back as far as ninth,” said Snider, who was runner-up in the LMSC track points last season at SNMP. “We were trying to save our tires as best as we could and the seventh-place finish was all we could get out of what we had. It wasn’t a bad night, though, as we were able to cut into the points lead.
After taking this weekend off, Snider returns to action on June 12 when the CARS Tour invades Tri-County Motor Speedway, the four-tenths-mile track located near Hudson, N.C. Both the LMSC and SLM divisions will battle it out in 100-lap features.
