SNIDER READY FOR SUNDAY’S CARS TOUR SEASON OPENER

SNIDER READY FOR CARS TOUR SEASON OPENER AT SOUTHERN NATIONAL

-Rising Young Star Has Established Himself As Serious Threat To Win In Every Race-

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 31, 2016) – My how have things changed for rising young star Myatt Snider in just the last 12 months. At this time last year, Snider was a talented 20-year-old driver who was still getting his feet wet in Late Model Stock Car competition in the inaugural CARS Tour event at Southern National Motorsports Park.

Entering this weekend’s 2016 #CARSTour300 season opener at SMMP, Snider just recently celebrated turning legal age by sharing his first beer (which he did not like) with his father, noted NBC-TV broadcaster Marty Snider. He’s a junior now at Belmont Abbey College looking to major in math and possibly transfer to a larger school.

The on track difference in a single season for Snider has been simply astounding. These days, every time Snider and his Jeff Caudill-led No. 2 NASCAR America Chevy Team unload their car, they are looked upon as one of the biggest threats to win. That’s the case regardless of the track they are racing on.

Unlike some young drivers whose seasons are full of ups and downs, Snider’s 2015 journey was full of nothing but success as he displayed the competitiveness and consistency associated with champions. Focusing mostly on the 10 CARS Tour events during his 18-race schedule, Snider finished an impressive third in the series’ inaugural race at Southern National and quickly became a solid championship contender.

Snider was the only competitor in the series to record top-10 finishes in all 10 races and completed all but the the final lap of the season, when he was spun out in the season finale at Hickory Motor Speedway. His 10th-place finish in that race saw him finish third in the standings, six points out of first and only a single point out of second. Snider’s remarkable season statistics boasted five top-five finishes, 10 top-10s and one pole position. He had an impressive 7.9 average start and a 5.6 average finish.

The big icing on the cake for Snider last year came in last November’s prestigious UNOH Battle at the Beach at Myrtle Beach Speedway. After finishing second in his heat race and starting fourth, he fell out of the top-five for only one circuit during the entire 200-lap battle. He watched and learned from the leaders during the first half of the race, crossing the line in third at the halfway break. Once he was able to get the lead, there was no holding Snider back as he was unstoppable in scoring the signature victory.

So what is the biggest difference between the 2015 version of Myatt Snider and the driver headed back to Southern National this weekend?

“I just think I have become a better driver as a whole,” offered the rarely rattled racer. “I think I’ve always had an ability to stay calm under pressure and keep my cool. I’ve been blessed to have such a great team and support crew around me with Jeff Caudill and all my guys. It’s like every race we come in there on a mission. They all help keep me focused and everyone on my team wants to win every bit as much as I do.

Snider started sixth and finished third last March in the CARS Tour’s inaugural race. He came back to start sixth and finish seventh when the series returned last May.

“We have had quite a few good races on that track and logged many laps there,” said Snider. “We finished off 2014 by winning a big NASCAR Whelen Racing Series feature and you seem to always love returning to tracks that you’ve won on. I feel like we’ll be fully capable of winning again there on Sunday.”

While Snider has not publicly disclosed his racing plans for this season, he did make this comment: “I feel like I am ready to test the waters at a higher level in auto racing and hope to be able to do that later on this season. But right now, our full focus is on this weekend’s CARS Tour season opener and trying to win it.”

With a big probability for rain in the forecast for Saturday at Southern National, CAR Tour officials changed the original schedule around. Now, only practice is on tap for Saturday if the weather permits. Sunday’s #CARSTour300 schedule sees final alternating practice sessions beginning at 12 noon. Qualifying is set for 2:30 p.m. and the first 150-lap feature is scheduled to get the green flag at 4:00 p.m. Grandstand admission for Saturday night is only $20. Youth tickets (ages 7-12) are $10 each and children 6 & under are admitted free of charge.

Speed51.com will provide “Trackside Now” live updates on Saturday, while Race22.com will offer live Twitter feeds. RACEFEEDX (www.racefeedx.com) is offering live pay-per-view video coverage for $18 with coverage beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
